Do I need a records search before a utility survey?
Yes. A Type D desktop search is the first step of every Type B survey we do.
Records are old, incomplete and sometimes contradict each other, but they tell the surveyor what to look for and tell you where the ground and the records disagree. Every Type B we do starts with one, and the records pack is included in the deliverables.
Book at least a week ahead so the records are in before we arrive. See desktop utility search.
